AIDS Hike for Life raises thousands for HIV prevention

By WKTV News

CLINTON, N.Y. (WKTV) - The 16th Annual AIDS Hike for Life brought local walkers and runners to the campus of Hamilton College, Sunday morning.
The event raised $35,906 total and is held to benefit ACR Health. It featured a 5k fundraising walk and timed run.
According to officials within ACR Health, while HIV and AIDS have seen a drop in number of deaths over the past decade, the number of infections has remained about the same, something that they hope will change by having this event.
The campus was filled with people trying to help spark this change, including KISS-FM's Gary "Big Poppa" Spears, who believes that events like these bring attention to an issue that has faded out of the public spotlight over the past few years.

During this event, all money that is raised locally, stays locally, as 100% of the proceeds go to benefit ACR Health's Youth HIV/STD Prevention programs and client support services.
