Accelerate Sports: Massive complex to open in Whitesboro

By WKTV News

WHITESBORO, N.Y. (WKTV) - It was a 20-year-old sports enthusiast's dream. A little more than a half decade and quite a few tons of steel later, Accelerate Sports is becoming a stunning reality.

Bryan Ingalls has coached softball at Herkimer College, SUNY Cortland and SUNY Canton. He gave up coaching and put on a hard hat to start construction on a multi-sports complex off Judd Road.

It's set to be a central location where scouts can check out local athletic talent, and where athletes can practice, and compete to their full potential.

The gym and sports facility is a mammoth 83,000 square feet. It will house a 300-square-foot, by 150-square-foot turf field inside the building.

Above and around the turf, the steel beams are already in place for an elevated track. Beside the track, there will be batting cages and a pitching station.

Back downstairs, on one side of the turf, there will be three full-sized multi-purpose flooring basketball courts.

On the other side, the Performance Food Center. You won't find french fries or hot dogs, instead, health food only, and a juice bar.

Accelerate is partnering with Dr.Joe Martin, a physical therapist to create the Prime Athletic Center. There will be state of the art equipment for sports rehabilitation and performance testing.

The six million dollar facility will be equipped with charging stations and Wi-fi.

Really, the sky's the limit. From field hockey to soccer, to lacrosse, to ultimate Frisbee, almost any sport that can be played on outdoor turf can be played inside here.

Outdoor sporting fields are expected to go up on the property next.
The facility is close to opening. A soft open date is set for November.

Sports teams and clubs looking for a new, state-of-the-art facility to call home, can inquire about scheduling. The phone number to call is (315) 736-1583.

The website is accelerate-sports.com. You can see the development as it's happening on the Facebook page for Accelerate Sports.
