Sherrill woman injured in Whitestown accident

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - A Sherrill woman was seriously injured in a one-car accident on Sutliff Road, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office said.

Keisha L. Knochel, 25, of Sherrill was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Trail Blazer on Sutliff Road in the Town of Whitestown when she lost control on the ice-covered roadway and hit several trees, officials said.

The Stanwix and Oriskany Fire Departments used hydraulic tools and worked for more than 40 minutes to free Knochel from the wreckage. She was transported to St. Elizabeth's Medical Center with multiple critical injuries. She has since been transferred to Upstate Medical Center, where she is listed in stable condition.

The highway was closed for more than two hours as a result of the accident. It is now reopen. Unsafe speed and slippery pavement appear to be contributing factors in the crash.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Forensic Investigation assisted at the scene.
