By WKTV News

(WKTV) - A multi-million dollar project on Hobart Street is now complete, providing affordable housing for seniors and families.

Genesee Crossing, located at 100 Hobart St., is an $8.9 million revitalization project that provides affordable housing. There are 13 buildings, with 33 apartment units in all. To live in the homes, there is a background check to live in the buildings.

According to Bret Garwood, senior vice president for multifamily programs for the New York the Homes and Community Renewal, building the property provided construction jobs and the replacement of blight with a well-managed property.

The economic revitalization project was a partnership between the state, Housing Visions and the City of Utica.
