After Scheidelman conviction, Trenton has new town supervisor

TRENTON, N.Y. (WKTV) - After the former town supervisor Mark Scheidelman was convicted of sexual abuse, the town of Trenton has a new town supervisor.

The Town Council put Deputy Supervisor and former Councilman Joseph Smith in the post.

Smith will fill out his term which ends on December 31. The seat will be up for election in November.

Last week, an Oneida County jury found Scheidelman guilty of sexual abuse, who was accused of inappropriately touching a child during a sleepover at his home.

Scheidelman is scheduled to be sentenced on July 17 in Oneida County Court.
