After suffering house fire, 10-year-old boy pays forward acts of kindness

By ANNA MEILER

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) -- Jesse Richard is just 10 years old, but he wants to help others the way the community helped his family when their house caught fire last year.

Jesse's family helped him donate 60 stuffed animals to the Children's Miracle Network at Faxton Saint Luke's Hospital. A young patient named Jacob received one of the fluffy friends after his surgery Thursday morning and it's making all the difference in his recovery as well as other children at the hospital.

"It can make a big difference in the children when they're in a strange place special little act of kindness and its something they can take ....Great impact for the children," said Andrea MacDiarmid, the Children's Miracle Network coordinator at Faxton Saint Luke's Hospital.

This is the second time Jesse has made a big impact. He received a Red Cross Good Samaritan award for helping save his family's home from the fire.
