All lanes re-opened on I-90 at Amsterdam, flood damage repaired

By WKTV News

ALBANY, N.Y. - All lanes are open and the normal traffic pattern is restored on I-90 westbound between Interchange 27 (Amsterdam) and Interchange 28 (Fultonville, Fonda), the New York State Thruway Authority announced.

Following damage from Hurricane Irene, a lane shift was put into place Sept. 2 at milepost 178, reducing the westbound travel lanes to a single lane.

Flood waters from the Schoharie Creek had washed away the embankment around the bridge support structure.

Thruway Authority maintenance crews and contractors worked around the clock to restore the westbound bridge, while traffic was maintained on the eastbound structure.
The Thruway Authority appreciates motorists' patience during this unplanned construction project.
