Ally Week at Utica College a time for acceptance

By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Gay Straight Alliance at Utica College kicked off its Ally Week, Wednesday.
Students got together for a photo shoot, and placed duct tape over their mouths with the words, "no hate," in order to make a statement.
The week is a way for the group to garner support and acceptance both on campus, and in the community, in order to provide a comfortable environment for everybody.
"It's a need to show diversity," said Gay Straight Alliance member, Jesse Haggerty. "It doesn't have to be about the gay agenda showing diversity. Central New York isn't just black, and white, and straight.
"It's all kind of people, all walks of life, different kinds of people."
