America's Greatest Heart Run heads inside at Masonic Care Community

By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Locals walked at the Masonic Care Community in Utica, Wednesday, to raise money for the American Heart Association.

The walk was a way to bring America's Greatest Heart Run and Walk to people unable to leave heath-care facilities in the area.

People participated in the walk indoors, in order to avoid the elements outside, for the seventh straight year.

"We started at Loretto Utica Center back in 2008 raising just under $1,000 dollars," said Organizer, Jay Snow. "Last year we were up over $4,000 with 7 different facilities participating this year."

The event also raises money throughout the month of February with a "Go Red for Women" bake sale.

People can also donate to the cause, and sign a heart at the Masonic Care Community.
