Anthony Picente will continue in Oneida County Executive position

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente will continue in his position after voters chose him over challenger Rodger Potocki.

Picente was given the Repulbican nomination but Potocki continued on the ballot on the Conservative line.

With 191 of 192 of the precincts reporting, Picente led Potocki by about 20,000 votes. That's 75% for Picente and 25% for Potocki.

On NEWSChannel Tuesday night Picente said, "It's been a tough year professionally on the job. It's been a tough year personally in just the last few days. We lost our mom and that really made it tough in the homestretch. The numbers are great, the crowd is great. I have great family and great supporters. I have to thank the people of Oneida County because I enjoy doing this job and evidently they enjoy having me."

As he said, Picente's mother Rose passed away late last week, just days before her son's election.
