By ANDREW DONOVAN

PROSPECT, N.Y. (WKTV) - An apparent standoff has come to an end in the Village of Prospect, according to New York State Police. The woman at the center of the incident told police that she was asleep.

According to police on the scene, a 34-year-old female was locked up inside a residence in a depressed, inconsolable state.

Authorities were on the scene all night long until the woman exited the home around 10:30 p.m., saying she was asleep and not aware of what was going on outside.

Police have not yet released the woman's name.

Family members contacted authorities around 4:30 p.m. with concerns over the woman's well-being. Police set up outside the home to attempt an uneventful resolution.

Neighbors in the area told NEWSChannel 2 that the residents of the home did own guns, adding an additional level of caution that police needed to take.

In addition to New York State Police, the Oneida County Sheriff's Department was on the scene.
