Arc Oneida-Lewis Chapter joins AgeNet

By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A digital ribbon cutting was held Thursday at the Oneida-Lewis Chapter of the Arc.

The Arc is the first developmentally disabled location in the Mohawk Valley to be a part of the age.net site, which is a system that allows the Arc to share expertise, valuable resources and health and wellness training with five other sites across two other counties.

It is similar to what you see at SUNYIT or a hospital, and functions like a cable network - providing information to everyone linked to the site. AgeNet utilizes a closed circuit network through VIZIONefx, LLC.

"In a time when it's an extremely sparse time for resources...so it really connects us across the net through the technology," said Kathleen Bishop of the Arc Oneida-Lewis Chapter. "It's an exciting moment."

Right now you can only be linked to the Arc if you are on the site. Bishop says she hopes to be able to connect with community members with AgeNet in the near future.
