Area hospitals receive grants from state

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced more than $45 million in funding for 37 facilities in the state, including four in the Mohawk Valley and one in Lewis County.

The grants are part of the Vital Access/Safety Net Provider Program. The selected facilities were chosen because of their serious financial condition and critical role in providing services to the fragile, elderly and low-income population, the governor's office said.

The funds will be used to improve community care and to achieve financial, operational and quality improvement goals.

Among the area hospitals receiving grants, AO Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta received a $3 million grant; Lewis County Hospital received a $779,000 grant; Little Falls hospital received a $432,000 grant; Rome Memorial Hospital received a $855,000 grant and Schuyler Hospital received a $216,000 grant.
