Assistance available for newly unemployed


<b>ORISKANY, NY (WKTV) -</b> Orion Bus is the latest Central New York company to announce layoffs.  Over the past year, Empire Arrow, Covidien, and the Rite Aid Distribution Center have all said they will start handing out pink slips.
The New York State Department of Labor says there is help available for anyone looking for work.
Michael Clark, Director of the Dislocated Workers Center says there are jobs out there.  People just might need some new training to get one.
"People will be surprised how often their skills sets transfer to another job," Clark said.
Clark says career counselors from the state will visit workers at company's who have recently announced layoffs.  They will pass out information about how to file for unemployment and how to start their job search.
There are also several Working Solutions:  One Stop Career Center's around Central New York. People looking for work can stop in and get a complete employment assessment.
