Augusta woman charged in attempted robbery of Vernon golf course

VERNON, N.Y. (WKTV) - An Augusta woman has been taken into custody after authorities say they caught her leaving the scene of an attempted robbery.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded around 11:40 a.m. on Friday to a report of a robbery in progress at Crystal Springs Golf Course in Vernon.

The Golf Course's owner tells NEWSChannel 2 that the woman had walked into the club house, and told an attendant that she wanted all the money in the register.

Authorities said the suspect was identified as a white female and was observed getting into her vehicle and driving away by members of the golf course. Sheriff's Road Patrol Deputies caught up with the vehicle reported leaving the scene on State Route 26 Augusta. S

Deputies conducted a traffic stop and took the sole occupant of the vehicle, Megan E. Danaher, 34 of Augusta into custody. Authorities said Danaher was identified as the person responsible for the attempted robbery.

Danaher was transported to the Oneida County Sheriff's office where she was questioned by Criminal Investigators and charged with third-degree attempted robbery. Danaher was arraigned at New York Mills Court and committed to Oneida County Jail on $15,000 bail.

No one was injured during this incident.
