Authorities seek information in theft of "rollback truck" from Madison County Landfill

LINCOLN, N.Y. (WKTV) - Authorities are looking for help with the investigation into a stolen truck from the Madison County Landfill.

Madison County Sheriff Allen Riley reports that deputies are continuing their investigation into the theft of a ten ton Madison County Landfill “rollback” truck from the Buyea Road, Town of Lincoln landfill.

Deputies were called to the landfill at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning by landfill employees that reported to work and discovered a front gate had been tampered with. Authorities said a small building on the landfill site had been entered and a small quantity of money and other items were taken along with the keys used to start the stolen truck.

Sheriff Riley is asking the public to report any sighting they may have had of the stolen truck. The truck is a 1986 Autocar Utility diesel truck bearing New York State Official license plate number K-25952 color green. The weight of the truck is 20,201 pounds. Each door of the truck cab has a faded Madison County Landfill decal affixed.

Deputies believe the stolen truck was driven from the landfill site just before sunrise this morning. The stolen truck exited the Buyea road and traveled in a southerly direction towards Peterboro. Deputies also believe more than one individual may have been involved.

Sheriff Riley urges anyone that may have information and / or may have seen the stolen truck on the highway between 4:30 AM to 5:30 AM Wednesday morning to call the Madison County Major Crime Tip Line at 1-800-721-2429 or 315-366-2429.
