Autopsy scheduled in Proctor teacher's shooting death


OLD FORGE, N.Y. (WKTV) - The investigation into the fatal shooting in Old Forge is continuing by New York State Police. On Sunday, they confirmed no other details would be released until after the scheduled autopsy.

According to State Police, the autopsy is scheduled for Sunday or Monday.

30-year-old Catherine Koestner, a math teacher at Proctor High School, died Sunday following the shooting at the Forge Motel in Old Forge. Police have not determined the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following the shooting, several personal items were found in the roadway near the motel including a woman's wallet, hat and undergarments.

Koestner was apparently spending the night at the Forge Motel with her boyfriend, who police say witnessed the event and is cooperating with the investigation.

The investigation into Koestner's death is continuing.
