Back to business following Rome bank robbery

ROME, NY (WKTV) - It was business as usual at The NBT Bank on Black River Boulevard in Rome Friday.

Businesses in the shopping plaza where the bank is located say Thursday mornings armed robbery left them feeling jittery, but they are glad the whole situation is over.

Teddy's Restaurant is right next to the NBT Bank. Manager Brian Miller says he was doing paperwork Thursday morning when Brian Brown allegedly held up the bank at gunpoint. Miller says an employee at the bank ran into his restaurant and asked him to call 911.

"It was unreal. I thought it was going to be a normal day," Miller said.

Brown made away with an undisclosed amount of cash but no bank employees were harmed.

"It was a very traumatic situation. We are so thankful no one was injured during the robbery," said Florence Doller, a spokesperson for NBT Bank.
