Barbershop quartet brings special touch to Valentine's Day

(WKTV) - A barbershop quartet is making Valentine's Day special for area recipients of singing valentines.

The Rome chapter of the barbershop quartet named Hitched 154 has been making the rounds on Friday. The group's name comes from the total number of years the members have been married.

Carrie Conti, at Good Shepard in Utica, was one recipient of a singing message, and it made the singers' day as much as hers.

"Tears and smiles from people we perform to, even the ladies we're not singing to get emotional and smile," said Art Spencer, lead of the quarter. "The tears are really what does it for us."

It's a busy day so they have other groups singing in Rome and Oneida. The quartets will deliver singing messages for any occasion.
