Bikers ride for fallen Deputy Wyman

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) – On a beautiful September Saturday afternoon, a large group of motorcycle riders took an 80 mile tour through Central New York in memory of Kurt Wyman. Wyman, an Oneida County Sheriff Deputy who was killed in the line of duty in June, always wanted to own a motorcycle. Saturday’s special ride was a fundraiser on behalf of Wyman’s two young children.

"A little awe inspiring, a little humbling, the people out here for Kurt.", said Brian Wyman, the father of the fallen deputy.

It's been a tough four months for the many people who knew and loved deputy kurt Wyman. Those who knew him best at the Sheriff's Department knew about Kurt's desire to own a motorcycle. "Kurt would have been ecstatic about this.”, said Sheriff Deputy Robert Russell. “Lauren (Wyman’s wife) told me that prior to Kurt's passing, they were actually shopping for a motorcycle, they were in the plans of getting one themselves."

The money raised by the ride will go to a college fund for Wyman’s two children, the youngest of which was born the day the deputy lost his life.
