Birdhouse Project founder visits CNY

STITTVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - The founder of the Birdhouse Project was in Stittville on Saturday, helping others in the healing process.

Kris Munsch met with some members of the compassionate friends inside the Stittville United Methodist Church Saturday. He created the birdhouse project after the sudden death of his son eight years ago.

It's a tool he created to help people organize their thoughts after the death of a loved one.

Munsch said, "The guilt and regret you feel when your child dies is overwhelming and so you know what I get out of it is number one: I'm a teacher at heart and I love teaching things and I'll teach anything and the other part of it is it's my therapy. It's how I get to be my son's voice is the biggest thing. I'm learning that he stays alive through me."

Munch says the birdhouse symbolizes new life.
