(WKTV) - The Otsego County Health Facilities Corporation voted Monday to sell Otsego Manor for $18.5 million.

The 174-bed nursing home facility, its 18.5-acre site and the alternative home health care program has been sold to Focus Ventures LLC of Airmont, N.Y.

Focus Ventures owns and operates Focus Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Utica, which members of the Otsego County HFC board visited numerous times. The group also owns health-related service providers in Pennsylvania and assisted living facilities throughout the east.

Focus Ventures plans for a transition that allows the uninterrupted continuation of services to residents and clients at Otsego Manor. All current employees will be eligible to apply for positions with Focus Ventures.

"Although a finalist has been selected, the process is not yet complete," said Katherine Stuligross, chairwoman of the Otsego County HFC.

The New York State Department of Health must now conduct a Character and Competency review of Focus to ensure it meets the state's standards for nursing home operators. Otsego County will continue to operate Otsego Manor until the buyer obtains a license to operate the facility.

The review process and completion of the transfer should be completed within the year.
