Boil water advisory in effect for parts of New Hartford, Clark Mills

(WKTV) - Several areas in the Town of New Hartford and the Town of Clark Mills are under a boil water advisory because of a large water main break on Commercial Drive.

Customers in the following areas are under the advisory: The Orchards, Ellinwood, New Hartford Business Park, Applewood, Cherrywood, and businesses along Commercial Drive/Seneca Turnpike from State Route 840 to Clinton Street in Clark Mills.

Affected streets and areas in New Hartford include: Clinton Street, Elinwood Drive, Commercial Drive/Seneca Turnpike west of State Route 840, Middle Settlement Road from Route 840 to Seneca Turnpike, Parkview Estates, Woods Park Drive, Woods Highway, Homestead Court, Homestead Road, all of Applewood, all of Cherrywood and all roads connecting to Seneca Turnpike between Middle Settlement Road and Clinton Street in Clark Mills.

Streets and areas in Clark Mills that are affected include: Clinton Street, Maple Street, Prospect Street, White Street, Rose Lane, Pratt Avenue and all side streets, Main Street, all of Pheasant Run and all of Milgate Meadows.

Following the restoration of water service, the boil advisory will be in effect for a minimum of 24 hours, or until tests show the water is free from contamination. Customers are advised to boil their water for at least two minutes before using it for drinking or cooking.

Customers are also advised against using any water that appears cloudy or discolored, especially hot water. Customers will have to flush the tank once clear water becomes available.

Customers should also avoid washing their clothes in discolored water.
