Boilermaker Shadow Run set for Saturday

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - The 2014 Boilermaker Shadow Run has been rescheduled for Saturday at Camp Buerhing, Kuwait.

The run was rescheduled after it had been canceled because of high temperatures.

Since 008, the Boilermaker has supported six overseas Shadow Runs: Three in Iraq and three in Afghanistan. The Boilermaker has sent race support gear, including a start/finish line banner that traditionally has been signed for participants and returned to Utica for display. The race also sent special commemorative "chill towels" that, when soaked and placed on skin, reduce temperatures by up to 20 degrees.

The 15k race in Kuwait will start at 5 a.m. Saturday, with the 5K starting five minutes later. Sunrise in Kuwait is at 5:09 a.m. and start temperatures will range between 80 to 90 degrees.
