NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - He was part of the Go the Distance class of 2012 and he raced 9.3 miles in a standard wheelchair, but on Friday, Devon Henry traded that in for a custom-fitted racing wheelchair valued at $2,500.
The athlete from the Sitrin STARS beat the Boilermaker Wheelchair Challenge by finishing the race in less than two hours, 15 minutes.
"You can concur anything as long as you put your mind to it," Henry said. "It doesn't matter how big or how small as long as you have that willpower and that drive, you can do anything you really want to."
The racing wheelchair was donated by Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Devon's official time last year was one hour, 42 minutes.
