Boonville-Oneida County Fair is now under way

(WKTV) - The Boonville-Oneida County Fair is now open.

Tuesday was children's day, which means discounts on the rides and a kiddie tractor pull. One of the highlights is the parade, which is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday. Event organizers say it's the biggest turnout of floats and bronze medalist Erin Hamiln will serve as grand marshal.

Fair organizers say keeping admission affordable is important.

"It's good family entertainment," said Dianne Hendrickson, fair office manager. "I think it's great when families can get together and enjoy one another's company. Today, everyone is so busy and just to say they are going to the county fair, it's just a wonderful opportunity."

Fair goers agree that the fair is a good time.

"The kids like to go through the agricultural barns and see the different displays," said fair goer Lorraine Broadbent. "We usually take them on the horsey ride. They have their favorite things they ask for the whole rest of the year until we get to this point in the summer."
