Boonville man charged with burglary after alleged assault

(WKTV) - A Boonville man faces a felony burglary charge after he allegedly assaulted a store owner in the Town of Forestport, New York State Police said.

William C. Moran, 49, is charged with felony burglary in the second degree and driving while intoxicated.

According to officials, troopers responded to River Street in Forestport on Friday after a report of an assault. The owner of a building on River Street said a man he knew entered his shop and assaulted him. The 37-year-old victim was treated at Upstate Medical Center for facial injuries.

While attempting to locate the suspect, troopers spotted Moran driving on Millers Woods Road. After stopping Moran, troopers determined he was also allegedly intoxicated.

Moran was arraigned in the Town of Remsen Court and sent to the Oneida County Jail on no bail. Oneida County Sheriff's Office assisted in the investigation.
