Boonville man suffers head injuries after motorcycle crash

AVA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A Boonville man sent to the hospital early Saturday morning after a motorcycle crash involving a deer.

Deputies say James Cooley, age 57 of Boonville, was traveling north on Route 46 in the Town of Ava when he encountered a deer in the roadway.

Cooley attempted to avoid the deer when he lost control of his 2007 Yamaha motorcycle.

Cooley’s motorcycle slid on its side for several feet and struck the deer causing Cooley to be thrown from his motorcycle.

Cooley was transported to St. Elizabeth Medical Center with apparent head injuries.

The accident was called in by someone who saw Cooley and his motorcycle in the roadway.

No tickets were issued and the accident is still under investigation.
