Boy hit by vehicle, neighbors want signs put up near park

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - A child on a bicycle was injured after he was struck by vehicle leaving a parking spot in Utica Saturday evening. The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Watson Place.

Witnesses say the driver of a red vehicle was parked near Lincoln Park and was pulling away from the curb when the five-year-old on the bike pulled out in front of him, and they collided.

The little boy was treated at the scene for minor injuries but while our camera crew was there, people in the neighborhood approached us, concerned because there are no signs in the area warning drivers about children playing in the park.

The residents say the park is right near the arterial and many drivers who go through the area do not realize kids are playing there until it's too late.
