Broadway Theatre League's Youth Program kicks off

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Broadway Theatre League's new Student Ambassador Program kicked off at the Stanley Wednesday for the opening night of West Side Story. Before critiquing the show, the chosen high school students got the chance to meet the cast backstage.

Throughout the show the group tweeted, posted to Facebook, and took note of what they'd write in a review of the show. It's all part of The Broadway Theatre League's new marketing plan to get students to the theatre.

"People are looking for our opinions on what we think of the show and if we give good positive reviews about it I mean obviously people are going to want to go see it," said Andres Garcia, a Student Ambassador from Clinton High School. "I mean who wouldn't want to see West Side Story."

West Side Story is one of five shows the students will go to and review. In exchange they get free subscription tickets.
