Brooklyn man pleads guilty to manslaughter in Rome stabbing death
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Brooklyn man accused of a stabbing a man to death in Rome back in September has pleaded guilty to a charge of first-degree manslaughter.
Terrence Dames was in Oneida County Court in Utica for a hearing on Wednesday, but instead chose to plead guilty. His decision comes after recently rejecting two separate plea offers put forth to him by the Oneida County District Attorney's Office.
Dames admitted stabbing victim Stephan LaPointe four times in the chest, then throwing the knife into the Erie Canal.
Dames is expected to receive 24 years in state prison when he's sentenced April 16 in Oneida County Court.
