ONEONTA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Two brothers are facing charges after a joint investigation between the Otsego County Sheriff's Office and the Oneonta Police.

Earl Linwood Thomas, 21, of Oneonta and Lindell Nelson Thomas, 27, of Troy are both facing charges of third-degree Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance. Earl Thomas is facing two counts of the charge while Lindell Thomas faces one count.

According to authorities, in April 2012, cocaine was purchased from the Thomas brothers in the Town of Oneonta. In may 2012, authorities say cocaine was purchased from Earl Thomas in the City of Oneonta. Both were indicted in July 2012 by a grand jury, the Otsego County Sheriff's Office states.

Last Thursday, investigators arrested Earl at his apartment on the sealed indictment warrant of arrest and he was held at the Otsego County Correctional Facility until he was arraigned Friday afternoon. Lindell surrendered himself on the arrest warrant on Friday afternoon to investigators.

Both brothers were arraigned by a County Court Judge. Earl was remanded to the County Correctional Facility on $10,000 bail and Lindell was released on his own recognizance to re-appear on Monday. On Monday morning, they both appeared in court and their bail statuses continued.

Earl faces up to 18 years in prison and Lindell faces up to nine years of incarceration if convicted.

They are both scheduled to return to Otsego County Court on October 15 at 9 a.m.
