Bucciero announces re-election campaign for Utica Councilor at Large seat

UTICA, N.Y. - Utica Councilman at Large, Ed Bucciero, formally announced his candidacy for re-election for a second term to the Utica Common Council.

Bucciero has received the Democratic Party’s and the Working Families Party’s endorsement for that office.

He was born and raised in Utica & was educated in local schools. He is Vice President and Director of Commercial Lines Development for the Briggs, Bucciero & Smith Insurance Agency and a licensed real estate broker and the owner of Bucciero Real Estate, a commercial real estate firm.

“The acquired experience and skills I obtained through 30 years of building a successful business has guided me in the introduction and support of sensible legislation and has served me well in the building of productive consensuses with my colleagues. I will continue to support and introduce initiatives that will hold the line on property taxes by increasing efficiencies thought consolidation, implementing new automation technologies, and requiring accountability based budgeting; by aggressively seeking both federal stimulus and state grant dollars; and by expanding the tax base through expansion of economic development and implementing flexible zoning."

Bucciero also said he plans public safety improvements that include developing responsive and creative programs designed to strengthen community relations; by continuing to support programs like Operation IMPACT, which financed special patrols and sweeps; and by supporting initiatives that provide stricter codes enforcement.

He also said that if re-elected, that he would advance business and residential homesteading within the city by aggressively expanding the opportunities for economic growth of new business, as well as expand existing businesses within the city’s borders. He says he plans on doing that by providing a low stable tax rate, by seeking to establishing competitive pricing for gas and electric city wide, by developing a more proactive relationship with our school district to identify common opportunities that will lead to a higher quality of education for children.

Bucciero makes a total of four Democratic candidates running for three Council at Large seats. Those other candidates include Jim Zecca, and the Democratic endorsed Jerry Kraus and Frank Meola.
