Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome Awareness takes place Sunday

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - A little bit of rain didn't stop walkers from taking part in the Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome Awareness in Utica on Sunday.

The one-mile walk began and ended at Hanna Park. Donations and pledges were accepted, but not required.

Experts say one in 700 births results in a baby with Down Syndrome. Locally, more than 100 families participate in support groups funded by UCP.

Sunday's event was the 18th annual walk.
