FORESTPORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - New York State Police are investigating after a bullet struck a window of an Adirondack Scenic Railroad car on Sunday afternoon.

According to officials with the Adirondack Scenic Railroad, passengers on board the railroad knew instantly that it happened because a window of the train was shattered, but fortunately, no one was hurt.

The incident happened Sunday afternoon on the way back to the City of Utica from a leaf-peeping trip up north and the full train had just passed Forestport when it happened. A passenger on the train said it was scheduled to arrive in Utica at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, but was delayed due to the investigation.

State Police have not said yet if it was a stray bullet from a hunter or something else.
