Buses 'unstuffed' after month-long toy donations

By SPENCER DAVIDSON

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Stuff the Bus campaign began its delivery of toys Sunday.

After people around the community have generously donated toys to the cause for the past month, the bampaign distributed the donations to needy children on Otis Street in Rome.

There was a large gathering of local celebrities at the event, such as KISS-FM's Big Poppa and S-Dot, as well as WUTQ's Mark Piersma, who donated their time to help the community.

"The expressions, to be able to unstuff the buses and lay everything out, and look at it, it really is a special day," said Big Poppa.

The goal this year for Stuff the Bus was to collect more than 13,000 toys for children.

The toys were all donated to nonprofit organizations around the area, such as the Rescue Mission of Utica, who has enough to provide 318 families with gifts for a happy holiday season.

The organizations will be giving the toys to families in need over the next week.
