CNY Veterans Outreach Center gives vets an early Christmas

By WKTV News

(WKTV) - More than 65 veterans and their families received gift baskets on Thursday from the Veterans Outreach Center in Utica.

The baskets were stuffed with blankets, socks, coats and toys for children and each family received a food basket, including a ham.

Charles King, who served the U.S. Army for 21 years, is one of those veterans who feels blessed to have the support of the center. He said he's grateful for the help at the holidays, and every day of the year.

"There's a lot of help if you need things," King said. "If you're homeless, if you just need someone to talk to, share a cup of coffee with and reminisce or have someone to talk to -- it's a wonderful outreach."

And while King is receiving help for the holidays, he's also doing what he can to pay forward the blessings.
