Fireworks postponed to Sunday for Canalfest in Rome

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) -Saturday evening's portion of the annual Canalfest in Rome, got washed out by storms, which means double the fireworks on Sunday evening for the close of the festivities.

Severe storms moved through the region around 7 p.m.

The action starts again at noon on Sunday.

The three-day event is at Bellamy Harbor Park.

Everything from hot dog eating contests to facepainting, and bands will be on hand to provide entertainment for all ages.

"We have scholarships for RFA seniors," said Rome Rotary President, Joel Gray. "We have a Christmas party where we clothe over 125 kids in the community with coats, hats, boots, presents. We have a teacher of the year."
