Car slams into back of the Bagel Grove

By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Bagel Grove in Utica is still open for business despite having a car drive into the back of the building. The owners of the business tell NEWSChannel 2, a longtime customer lost control of her vehicle and drove into the building around 8:30am Wednesday morning.

Fortunately, no one was hurt, but it did cause an inconvenience for the people who work there. That's because the car damaged the store's walk-in cooler. One of the owners had to drive to Syracuse Wednesday to bring back a truck to store all of the refrigerated goods in the parking lot until repairs can be made.

The accident smashed into the wall of what the owners call "The Dough Room"- and an employee was about four feet away making dough when the car slammed into the wall. Items were thrown from shelves and another employee describes it like an earthquake.

The business was not forced to close, things were slowed down a bit but it is business as usual with some minor changes while the walk-in cooler is repaired.

Right now the section of the building that was struck is boarded up. The owners tell us they are happy that everyone is ok.
