Police calling Memorial Parkway incident a homicide

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - One man is dead after an incident that happened on the Memorial Parkway in Utica Thursday night.

Utica Police said Andrew Mateo, 25, of Utica died after sustaining a gunshot wound.

The incident happened at around 5:30 p.m. Authorities say Mateo was in his vehicle arguing with someone and then was shot. He then drove his vehicle into a building at the corner of Oneida Street and Memorial Parkway.

The suspect fled the scene and police are searching for his wereabouts.

Mateo was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but died soon after.
