Cardillo: Harza building is the centerpiece for business development

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - In his first 100 days in office, if elected a candidate for Utica Mayor would meet with every business owner in the city to address their concerns.

Robert Cardillo says he also wants to create a 12 member, independent commission for economic development.

The mayoral candidate stood in front of the Harza Building on Genesee Street in downtown Utica Wednesday, calling the building "the centerpiece for business development."

Using CDBG funds, Cardillo would invite people to use the downtown building to startup their companies. Cardillo says the next Steve Jobs could be from Utica.

"If we have the opportunity to have space and give folks a chance to develop their ideas, that gives us an opportunity to create jobs, high paying jobs and we've got this building so we might as well take advantage of it," Cardillo said.

Cardillo is running on the Conservative and Independence Party lines.

He is running against Republican Michael Cerminaro, Democrat and Working Families candidate Robert Palmieri, Green Party Candidate Robert Clemente and Rainbow Party candidate Ernie Sanita.
