Cardillo receives Conservative Party endorsement for Utica Mayoral race

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Republican endorsed candidate for the Utica Mayoral Race received another endorsement Monday morning.

Robert Cardillo announced at a Monday press conference at his Genesee Street Campaign Headquarters that he has also received the endorsement of the Oneida County Conservative party.

According to the party's chairman, Cardillo beat out two other candidates - Robert Palmieri and Utica City Comptroller Michael Cerminaro.

The head of the Conservative Party says Cardillo was chosen because he is someone with a positive vision to move the city forward.

Cardillo says the endorsements are nice, but to move the city forward, residents have to work together.

"There is no Republican, Democratic, Conservative of Independent way to run a city," Cardillo said. "We are all Uticans. It is very important for us to be involved in this community and have everybody on the same page in terms of growing and moving this community forward."

Cardillo is being challenged in this race by City Comptroller Michael Cerminaro, who is running as a Republican and the Democrat Party endorsed Robert Palmieri.
