Carpenter Union: Bass Pro Shop carpenters not paid local standard

By ANDREW DONOVAN

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The construction of Bass Pro Shop in North Utica is creating some controversy in regards to wages for workers.

The Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters was picketing outside Riverside Center Thursday because of their concern over the wages.

They claim the company doing the work, Ronald Wright Inc., does not pay their employees the local standard, which they say is about $40 per hour.

NEWSChannel 2 reached out to Ronald Wright Inc. in Hamilton who had no comment.

Bass Pro Shops have also not commented. The store is scheduled to open later this year. It is not known if that will change because of the controversy.
