TRENTON, N.Y. (WKTV) - The investigation continues into the shooting death of a Utica man's German Shepherd, and a special prosecutor will now be handling the case.
The dog was shot to death at the Trenton Greenbelt Trails a few weeks ago and the owner claims a former New York State Trooper named Anthony Randazzo shot the dog as part of a vendetta against him.
Defense Attorney Chris Pelli is now handling the prosecution of this case.
Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara wants to avoid any appearance of impropriety considering the fact that the alleged shooter is a former law enforcement officer.
