Cash, keys and coffee stolen from Little Falls Food Pantry

By PAT BAILEY

LITTLE FALLS, N.y. (WKTV) - Two men broke into the food pantry in Little Falls on Saturday night and stole $50 cash, spare keys to the building, coffee grounds and a coffee pot, Little Falls Police said.

According to Police Chief Michael Masi, , the Michael Markwartd, 25, and Daniel Conklin, 22, both of Little Falls have been arrested in the incident. Both are currently on parole.

They have both been charged with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and petit larceny. The duo were arraigned in Town of Little Falls Court and sent to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility without bail.

Sue Tucker, Coordinator for the food pantry in Little Falls, says she feels bad about the incident.

"I thought it was really really sad that someone would break into a place like this," Tucker said. "It is not like we have a lot of money. I feel really bad someone would do this."

The ceiling in one part of the food pantry was hanging while pipes were visible. Tucker believes that once the suspects came through an outside window, they crawled inside the ceiling before falling through.

"I feel very insecure now to be targeted, Tucker said. "I guess it is the way a homeowner would feel if someone breaks into their house. Their security is gone."
