By SPENCER DAVIDSON

ONEIDA NATION HOMELANDS, N.Y. (WKTV) -  The Oneida Indian Nation and the "Change the Mascot" campaign received national attention, Sunday.

Nation representative Ray Halbritter sat down for a one-on-one interview with NBC News at the Shako:wi Cultural Center, that was featured on Sunday morning's edition of Meet The Press.

Meet The Press also featured an interview with President Obama, who offered his support towards potentially changing the nick name of the Washington Redskins, which many Native Americans across the country believe is derogatory.

The "Change the Mascot" campaign is also set to host a symposium on the topic, Monday, October 7th, at the NFL Fall League Meeting in Washington D.C. to further their message.

As part of the campaign, radio ads have been airing in Washington D.C. and other cities around the country, to promote their cause. The ads can be found at www.changethemascot.org.
