BOONVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - A mother has been arrested in Boonville after police say she left her three year old daughter sleeping in the grass outside of a beer tent at the Boonville-Oneida County Fair.

According to Village of Boonville Police, officers were called to the fairgrounds at around 11:09 p.m. On July 28, 2011 to investigate a report of a small child sleeping on the ground outside the beer tent at the fair.

Officer Jennifer Hellinger and Officer Donald Anna responded to the scene where they located a three year old girl sleeping under a blanket in the wet grass, just a few feet from the "Beer Garden" tent.

Police said an investigation showed that the child's mother - Kimberly Howard, 35, of Boonville - was at the beer tent celebrating with friends and family while the child slept in the grass. The investigation showed that two other children, ages nine and 15 years old, were also in the "Beer Garden."

On Friday, August 5, at 7:25 p.m, Howard was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, was served a criminal summons issued by the Village of Boonville Court and was released. She is scheduled to return to the Village of Boonville Court on September 14 to answer the charge.
