The Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) of Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare’s (FSLH) Foundation held its 22nd annual Bowling for Miracles Bowl-A-Thon in January, raising more than $8,400 for Women’s and Children’s services at FSLH.

The event was held at Pin-O-Rama Recreation Center in Utica, where 44 teams took to the lanes in support of CMN. In all, more than 185 bowlers participated in the Bowl-A-Thon, which was organized by the FSLH Foundation in partnership with WKTV NewsChannel 2 and Lite 98.7.

Organizers said proceeds from CMN events like the annual Bowl-A-Thon make it possible for children like Ethan Witt to receive specialized care close to home. When this CMN Miracle Child felt a severe stomach pain in December 2012, he never expected to find out that the cause was a ruptured appendix. Ethan needed surgery and time to heal. He spent nearly two weeks in the Pediatrics Department at FSLH and was able to take advantage of the excellent services provided, in part, through CMN donations.

“Ethan’s story is a wonderful example of how funds raised through CMN make a difference in the quality of care we are able to provide,” said Andrea MacDiarmid, CMN coordinator. “Whether you participate in the event or just make a donation, every gift helps to change lives.”
