Children's Museum's wind turbine in action and on display

By WKTV News

UTICA, N.Y.(WKTV) - The Children's Museum in Utica cut the ribbon Thursday on a wind turbine that will cut costs and save energy, but that's not all. The turbines also serve as a spring board to get children interested in green energy and science.

The turbine is located on the roof of the building, but can be seen on a 32-inch television inside the building .

"Number one, it's going to cut down on our utility bill and that's one of our largest expenses of all; and number two what they're going to do is, they are going to enthuse kids on what sustainable energy can do," says museum executive director Marlene Brown.

It's part of the "greening" of the building to get children interested in science, technology, engineering, and math.
