Chilly outside, and Chili inside for 12th Annual Chili Challenge

By WKTV News

ILION, N.Y. (WKTV) - Hungry locals took to Francesca's Banquet Hall, Sunday, for the 12th Annual Chili Challenge.

The Challenge, which sampled chili from both professional and amateur chefs, benefited the American Red Cross.

About 200 people came out and donated $12 to try as many chilis as they wanted for a good cause.

"We provide service and comfort to people who need service at the darkest times of their lives," said Chris Bray, of the Red Cross Mohawk Valley Chapter. "It's funny, as big of an organization as it is we might each not have a personal story with Red Cross and services provided, but we all know someone and have connected to the Red Cross."

There were two separate competitions for best chili, one for the 'Restaurant League' and one for the Amateur League.

The event raised $2000 for the American Red Cross.
